Civil War era photograph album, 1860-1870.

Album of carte-de-visite photographs of American notables of the period, taken by various photographers, including Mathew Brady and Charles D. Fredricks. Those pictured include Abraham Lincoln and the Lincoln family, Ulysses S. Grant, Jefferson Davis, John C. Breckenridge, General John Dix, P.G.T. Beauregard, William Tecumseh Sherman; also European royalty including Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, Louis Napoleon and Eugénie, and literary figures such as William Cullen Bryant and Charles Dickens. Also shown is P.T. Barnum's star midget performer General Tom Thumb with Lavinia Warren (later Lavinia Magri) on their wedding day, with midgets Commodore McNutt and Minnie Warren as their best man and bridesmaid. Also includes photographs of several members of the Yeomans family. The album is bound in brown morocco with clasps and edges gilt.
